{"id":2883,"date":"2009-09-18T10:49:16","date_gmt":"2009-09-18T18:49:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.huddlestontaxcpas.com\/CPA%20Article\/employee-or-independent-contractor\/"},"modified":"2009-09-18T10:49:16","modified_gmt":"2009-09-18T18:49:16","slug":"employee-or-independent-contractor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/huddlestontaxcpas.com\/blog\/employee-or-independent-contractor\/","title":{"rendered":"Employee or Independent Contractor?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you are a business owner wondering whether to treat an individual working within your business as an employee or an independent contractor, here is what you should consider:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0 Does your company have the right to control what the worker does and how they do it?\u00a0 Are they allowed to work for other companies as well?\u00a0(Behavorial Control)<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0 Do you control how the personal is paid?\u00a0Do you\u00a0reimburse them for expenses?\u00a0 Do you provide the tools and equipment or do they?\u00a0(Financial Control)<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0 Are there written contracts or employee type benefits?
